Assistant Professor

Montana State University

Siwei He joined the Civil Engineering Department in August 2023. Prior to that, Siwei was a Research Scientist (I and II) at the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) at the University of Colorado Boulder and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Global Systems Laboratory (GSL). Siwei was awarded the National Research Council (NRC) Research Associateship from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine’s Fellowships Office.

Siwei’s research integrates observations (both from in-situ monitoring networks and high-resolution remote sensing), physically-based models, statistical methods, and high-performance computing to study land-surface and hydrological processes and their impacts on other processes (e.g., atmospheric circulation, ecosystems, infrastructure, energy, sustainability, and society) at regional and global scales.

Interests
  • Hydrological/land-surface modeling
